Park West CARES Donates to South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless
Park West Gallery′s goodwill initiative, Park West CARES, completed its most recent donation on Friday, September 24, 2010.
Hundreds of clothing items were given to South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless (SOCH), a local charity organization. The SOCH donation was just one of numerous successful Park West CARES clothing giveaways achieved throughout the last few months.
Park West CARES has additional donations scheduled throughout the coming weeks at other local nonprofit organizations.
If you know of a charitable organization that would benefit from Park West CARES, please contact Raquel Fournier at rfournier@parkwestgallery.com or call (248) 204-6844.
About South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless
In 2000, a group of concerned citizens in Royal Oak joined forces with local clergy and began to meet monthly to discuss the issues facing homeless people in Royal Oak. Their vision was to open a day time drop-in center for the homeless population who used evening and overnight programs, but had few places to go during the day except the streets and public buildings. The goal was to provide a safe place where the homeless could shower, make phone calls, have a meal, explore job opportunities, store their belongings, accept mail and get connected to community social services. South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless became a non-profit 501c3 and started a day center for the homeless during the winter months.
