Gillie and Marc Bring Their Powerful Sculptures to Soho

In Art & Gallery News, Gillie and Marc Schattner, New York Museum

Gillie and Marc Schattner are a married couple more commonly known in the art world simply as Gillie and Marc, but even more known worldwide for their jaw-dropping public art sculptures of wildlife that raise awareness of, and in many cases, critical funds for, Planet Earth’s most endangered species. Previously, you would have had to travel to London, Singapore, or Auckland to encounter their remarkable art in the wild, but starting April 6, 2025, the powerful artwork of Gillie and Marc can be experienced inside Park West’s expansive 4,000 square foot Soho Gallery at 411 W Broadway in New York City.

This exciting new exhibition will primarily feature Gillie and Marc’s sculptures, while also including acrylic painted work. The pair produce innovative art while actively raising money and awareness for a myriad of societal issues through messages of love, equality, and conservation.

The artists’ work returning to the Big Apple is a long time coming as The New York Times has called Gillie and Marc the most prolific and successful creators of public art in New York’s history. More importantly, they are soul mates who are lovingly called “the world’s most loving artists”. This is because for over three decades Gillie and Marc have been working side by side on paintings, sculptures, and massive works of public art that do good.

While their enormous sculptures of African elephants, Masai Giraffe, Lowland gorillas, white rhinos, arctic foxes, Bengal tigers, and more have garnered the couple fame and helped Gillie and Marc’s conservation message reach wider audiences, it is the love birds’ autobiographical characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, that established the duo as an artistic tour de force with something to say.

These famous sculpted versions of Gillie and Marc as a rabbit and a dog, respectively, make an essential yet playful point that’s more relevant than ever before. The characters, typically predators and prey in the natural world, show us that when we work together and love, respect, and collaborate, regardless of what side of the aisle we may be on, the world will be a better and more peaceful place.

Make a plan to stop into the Park West Soho Gallery to experience the stunning art and the legacy of love and equality of Gillie and Marc, alongside art by masters like Picasso, Dalí, Renoir, and Miró!
