Call to Artists: Let’s Save Michigan Poster Contest
If you’ve only recently been introduced to Park West through our art auctions at sea, you may not know that Park West Gallery has proudly operated our headquarters in Southfield, Michigan for over 40 years (in fact, Mayor Brenda L. Lawrence has officially proclaimed June 15 as “Park West Gallery Day” in Southfield!).
In addition to spreading the joy of fine art through our gallery in Michigan, nurturing the careers of local artists and supporting local communities and young people via the Park West Foundation, the Park West Gallery Blog is another outlet through which we will happily promote our state by sharing opportunities like the following.
The Detroit Institute of Arts and Let’s Save Michigan have issued an open call to artists, illustrators, and graphic designers for original posters to inspire Michiganders to revive their state. The posters should be a call to action and serve as part of a campaign to rally citizens to do the hard work necessary for Michigan to thrive in the future. The posters should be forward-looking, inspirational, and include the phrase “Let’s Save Michigan” in the design.
Artists have until February 15 to submit their designs to the Let’s Save Michigan website. Judges will select 25 finalists whose work will be featured on the site, where visitors will be able to vote for their favorites. The winners will be announced in early March. The winner will take home $1,000 and the runner-up $250. All of the finalists’ works will be displayed during a special reception in the spring.
