Claude Goutin

1930–

Claude Goutin was born in 1930 in Nancy, France. He began his artistic training at the Nancy School of Fine Arts and then studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. There he studied with the great Art Deco sculptor, Alfred Janniot. He was awarded first place at the Grand Prize of Rome in 1956.

Stone cut or modeled, each of Goutin’s sculptures strikes its viewer with its technical sensitivity, its movement, and the originality of its subject, such as nudes and opera heroines. Goutin has received numerous public commissions, especially within the city of Metz.
