Art by Tim Yanke and Head Start Preschoolers Featured at Fundraiser Benefiting OLHSA
When Birmingham-based neo-southwest artist Tim Yanke teamed up with 504 of Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) Head Start preschoolers, creativity, laughs and a new appreciation for the simple fun of art were unleashed. The tangible result – 16 pieces themed in the four seasons – will be offered in a silent auction at an upcoming exhibition and fundraiser ‘Four Seasons, 504 Reasons.’
Tickets are now on sale for this after-work soirée, to be held on Thursday, November 29, from 6 to 8 pm at Park West Gallery in Southfield.
Event goers will enjoy a mix and mingle atmosphere among some of the Detroit area’s finest art, appetizers, drinks and musical entertainment. The crowd will hear from some of the miniature painters themselves as they share in their own words what the experience of painting with Tim meant. Proceeds from the event will support OLHSA in its efforts to empower struggling families in Oakland and Livingston Counties.
“’Four Seasons, 504 Reasons’ is the culmination of a meaningful year at OLHSA’s Head Start,” said Ronald B. Borngesser, OLHSA CEO. “This inspired partnership has unlocked the creative potential that lies within every child, and we’re proud to unveil the final result to the community.”
Throughout 2012, Tim Yanke graciously donated his time to enriching the lives of OLHSA’s Head Start preschoolers, aged three to five years, by visiting once per quarter to paint the season-themed pieces. All 504 Head Start students participated in the paintings. Art supplies were donated by Park West Gallery.
“Let’s pack the house at Park West and find each of these paintings a fine home,” said Tim Yanke. “OLHSA helps thousands of kids and families every year. When I think of the energy and curiosity the preschoolers showed, and the good work this organization does, I feel thrilled to give back and be part of it all.”
